How Can You Manage Your Life?

It is a discipline and a routine that you make a part of your daily or weekly activities. Here is the process:

Step 1: Reflect on the past week
Step 2: Analyze those moments that stick out to you
Step 3: Learn from the moments in Step 2
Step 4: Plan for the days ahead

Now let’s look at each step in detail:

Step One: Reflect on the Past Week

Spend time identifying the events that happened during the past week. Think about all the events—hard moments, outstanding moments, hurtful moments, both big and small. Write them in a journal. You can even give them names for an easier way to refer back to them later.

Step Two: Analyze Those Moments

Take a moment and assess what you have written. Are there hidden beliefs and judgments guiding your evaluation of the week? Is your thought process or self-talk holding you back, or is it propelling you forward? Make note of these observations.

Step Three: Learn from the Moments

Look at the events you recorded and the conclusions you came to. What lessons can you draw from them? What insights will help you grow?

Step Four: Plan for the Week Ahead

Include something you want to accomplish in the coming week along with the steps needed to make it happen. Use what you learned from your reflections and analysis to guide your plan.
